Wild As The River
B. Sheffield - Copyright 2009 - (from the album) In Other Words...
There was no denying how much he loved you.
So angry at the father that he never really knew.
Royalty and riches would have surely been his fate,
In another time, another place.
He was as wild as the river that flows by our home,
And every since the day he left out on his own,
Wild as the wind that blows through these pines.
Just a lost soul that life left behind.
And just like that river, he wound a crooked trail.
Hopeless schemes, broken dreams and a little time in jail.
Who knows what desperation can lead a man to do?
But he never would have wanted to hurt you.
He was as wild as the river that flows by our home,
And every since the day he left out on his own,
Wild as the wind that blows through these pines.
Just a lost soul that life left behind.
Questions still unanswered about the night he died.
Policeman's gun and all as one they called it justified.
But, remember, all the lies and the stories that they tell,
Are not of the man you knew and loved so well.
He was as wild as the river that flows by our home,
And every since the day he left out on his own,
Wild as the wind that blows through these pines.
Just a lost soul life left behind.
